XYZ Racing Gravel Rally Coilovers — Toyota CROWN GRS 180/181/182 2003-2008

The twelfth-generation Zero Crown rode on soft, comfort-biased springs and a long wheelbase tuned for hushed motorway miles, not loose surfaces. The XYZ Racing Gravel Rally coilover sets out to turn that rear-drive saloon into something that can attack a gravel stage without crashing through its travel on the first crest.

This is the long-travel, inverted-strut end of the XYZ range, built specifically for rallycross and gravel-stage work rather than tarmac. On the Toyota Crown GRS 180/181/182 it gives the body the suspension stroke and spring length it needs to soak up ruts, sand and snow while keeping the rear axle planted under power.

What this coilover does for your 2003-2008 Toyota Crown GRS 180/181/182

Fit it and the first thing you feel is travel. The long-stroke damper lets the GRS Crown’s heavy body move over broken ground without bottoming on the bump stops, so a fast, lumpy section stops unsettling the car. The long springs hold ride height through big compressions, which matters on a nose-led saloon carrying its V6 over the front axle. Spring rates were set by XYZ’s rally team for loose surfaces, so the balance leans toward traction and compliance rather than flat, hard control. Coming out of a slow corner the rear stays loaded, and the inverted layout keeps the working section of the damper up and away from stone strikes.

About the Gravel Rally coilover

The Gravel Rally coilover is the most specialised damper XYZ Racing builds, aimed squarely at rally and rallycross, where the surface is the harshest in motorsport. It uses an inverted tube design, which puts the larger, stronger body at the top and shields the shaft and seals from the grit thrown up by gravel, sand, snow and silt. Long stroke and long springs are the defining features: together they absorb chassis vibration and the violent inputs of a high-speed, bouncy road, and they help the damper bear the heavy lateral G-force the car generates when it turns hard on a loose surface. XYZ developed the design to handle several distinct stage conditions rather than one ideal surface, and every spring rate in the kit was validated by their rally racing team. It is a competition tool first, set up for grip and survival on stage, not kerb-clipping circuit precision.

This damper is mainly design for Rally Racing or Rally Cross. In all racing events, road condition of Rally Cross is the most aggressive one. Hence, it means that the shock absorber is the most important utensil during the Rally gravel competition. We develop inverted tube design to meet each different road condition as sandstone, snow or silt. Long stroke and long spring which enable to absorb chassis vibration, aggressively attack from high speed bouncy road and bear extremely G-force when turning. All spring rate setting are tested by Rally Racing team.
