XYZ Racing Pro Rally Coilovers — BMW 3 SERIES E30 4 CYL OE φ51 (Front Welding Modified Rear Integrated) 1982-1992

The E30 3 Series was never built as a rally car from the factory, but its short wheelbase, low kerb weight and simple MacPherson strut front end have kept it a fixture on gravel and snow stages for four decades. This φ51 Pro Rally kit is the welded, professional-specification version of the E30 coilover: the front struts are modified into the shell rather than bolted to the original mounts, and the rear is a fully integrated assembly rather than an add-on unit.

Where XYZ Racing’s road and fast-road ranges chase lap times or ride comfort, Pro Rally is built for top-flight rally competition – stages where the suspension takes repeated hard landings, ruts and camber changes without the geometry walking out of line. For an E30 running a full rally programme rather than the odd forest sprint, the difference between bolt-in and welded-in is the difference that matters.

What this coilover kit does for your 1982-1992 BMW 3 Series E30

Fit this kit to a 1982-1992 BMW 3 Series E30 and the biggest change isn’t outright grip, it’s how the chassis behaves when a wheel drops into a rut mid-corner. Because the front strut tops are welded into the shell rather than clamped to the standard turret, the suspension loads the bodyshell directly instead of working through a bolted joint that flexes and fatigues after repeated impacts. The integrated rear axle setup does the same job at the back, holding camber and toe closer to where you set them when the car goes from airborne to hard-loaded in the space of a landing. On loose surfaces that means a rear end that stays hooked up under power instead of stepping out unpredictably, and a front end that keeps turning in after the third or fourth heavy compression of a stage. It’s a level of durability a bolt-in amateur setup on the same E30 can’t match once the mileage and impacts add up.

About the Pro Rally coilover

XYZ Racing splits its rally-specification suspension into two builds. The first bolts straight onto the car’s original mounting points, a quicker fit aimed at amateur or occasional stage use. The second, which is what this kit is, only goes on once the bodyshell has been modified: the front strut towers are welded to accept the new mounting hardware, and the rear is installed as one integrated unit rather than a bolt-on replacement for the factory setup. That extra work at fitting stage is what separates a car built for the occasional gravel blast from one built to survive a full rally season, and it’s why serious E30 rally builds specify the welded kit over the bolt-in alternative. Construction follows the same OE φ51-strut architecture as the rest of the Pro Rally line, sized to work with the E30’s original hub and knuckle.

Fitment for the Bmw 3 Series E30 (1982-1992)

This Pro Rally kit is built specifically for the BMW 3 Series E30 (1982-1992), covering the four-cylinder OE φ51-strut chassis. It’s the welded, front-modified and rear-integrated variant rather than a direct bolt-in, so confirm your car matches the φ51 strut diameter and that your build is set up for the front-end welding work before ordering.

1. Be installed directly with the original chassis. (Amateur type)
2. Be installed after modifying the car body. (Professional type)
