XYZ Racing Drift Spec Coilovers — Ford MUSTANG 6 CYL 2005-2014

Sideways is the whole point of the S197 Mustang’s live rear axle and 300bhp-plus V6, and the factory dampers were never built to hold an angle through a full transition. The XYZ Racing Drift Spec coilover replaces that soft factory setup with a kit built specifically to keep the car settled and predictable once the rear steps out.

For competitive drifting, that means a chassis that reacts the same way every pass – into the entry, through the transition, and out the other side without the body roll fighting your steering correction.

What this coilover does for your 2005-2014 Ford Mustang 6 CYL

Lowering the ride height on this kit changes how the S197’s weight moves during a transition, keeping the nose and tail settled instead of pitching as you load and unload the throttle. That stability is what lets you hold an angle rather than chase it. A properly set bump stroke gives the rear axle enough travel to stay planted through direction changes without crashing into the bump stops mid-run, so the car stays controllable when you’re deep into a drift rather than snapping back unpredictably. Owners running these on the S197 platform get a car that telegraphs what the rear end is doing, which matters more than outright grip once you’re committed to an angle. The result is a Mustang that transitions cleanly between opposing corners instead of wallowing between them, and holds a line under power rather than washing wide.

About the Drift Spec coilover

XYZ Racing built this line specifically around drift competition rather than adapting a road or circuit coilover for the job. The construction prioritises stabilising the vehicle body during high-speed direction changes, which is where most drift setups fall apart – body roll and axle hop under fast weight transfer. Getting the ride height low with a correctly proportioned bump stroke is central to how the kit works: too little stroke and the axle crashes into the stops mid-slide, too much and the car wallows before it settles. XYZ Racing tuned the damping and stroke relationship around holding a controlled angle rather than outright cornering speed, which is the fundamental difference between a drift-specific setup and a track-day coilover. The aim throughout is a rear end that stays composed enough for the driver to control the slide rather than react to it.

Fitment for the Ford Mustang 6 CYL (2005-2014)

This kit is built for the Ford Mustang 6 CYL, chassis code FO15, covering the 2005 to 2014 model years – the S197-generation V6 cars. Confirm your build year falls within that range before ordering, as suspension geometry and mounting points on this platform changed across the wider Mustang range.

This suspension is designed for Drift race especially. With its special design, it helps the racers stabilize the vehicle body while in high speed turning in order to make a perfect angle. It can also enhance drifting performance. After lowing the ride height with proper bump stroke, you will realize how we made the drift controlling to the excellent condition.
