XYZ Racing Drag Racing Coilovers — BMW 3 SERIES E30 6 CYL OE φ51 (Front Welding OE Rear Separated) 1982-1992

Drop the clutch in a six-cylinder E30 and the car’s weight doesn’t ease backward, it slams there – nose-heavy inline six ahead of the axle line, live rear end trying to absorb all of it in a fraction of a second. Stock damping was tuned for a road that never asks that question. This Drag Racing coilover kit takes that same weight transfer and turns it into usable rear-tyre compression instead of wheelspin.

Where a fast-road or track kit is set up to resist that shift, this one is set up to use it, once, repeatedly, every time you stage. The front strut keeps the OE φ51 dimension so the geometry stays factory-correct at the nose; the rear runs as a separated assembly rather than a fixed unit, giving you an independent adjustment point for how hard the back end loads on launch.

What this coilover does for your 1982-1992 Bmw 3 Series E30

On the line, you get to set how much of that rearward weight shift actually reaches the tyre rather than leaving it to chance. Biasing more load onto the rear contact patch at the moment of launch means the transmission-side tyre compresses harder into the tarmac, cutting the idle spin before it hooks up. Because the front strut retains the OE φ51 profile, the steering geometry and front ride height stay where BMW put them, so you’re not fighting altered castor or bump-steer while you dial in the back. The separated rear construction means the launch-side settings aren’t tied to a shared housing, so you can bias the rear independently of the front instead of compromising both ends to fix one. Run after run, that’s a rear axle that loads the same way rather than one that behaves differently once the tyres are warm.

About the Drag Racing coilover

XYZ Racing built the Drag Racing range for one job: 0-400m runs across FWD, RWD and 4WD platforms, and the E30 gets the rear-wheel-drive version of that treatment. The setup allows the car to shift its front-to-rear weight balance in the instant the transmission puts power down, forcing greater compression through the launch-side tyre and reducing how long the wheel spends spinning before it grips. On this six-cylinder E30 that means an OE-diameter φ51 front strut paired with a separated rear unit rather than a single integrated housing, so the rear can be set up specifically for straight-line load rather than compromised for cornering. The whole point of the construction is stability once the car is moving, not comfort at low speed.

Fitment for the Bmw 3 Series E30 (1982-1992)

This kit is specified for the 6-cylinder E30, covering the full 1982-1992 production run, with the front strut supplied to the OE φ51 diameter and the rear as a separated assembly rather than an integrated one. Confirm you have the six-cylinder E30 before ordering, since strut diameter and mounting differ from the four-cylinder range.

The coilovers are specially designed for 0~400 drag racing such as FWD, RWD or 4WD models. The setting allows vehicle to change the front and rear weight according to the transmission wheel in instant driving, and force the transmission tire having greater compression, which can reduce the idle time of wheel and improve the stability of the vehicle under high speed.

Every XYZ Racing coilover kit ships with the upper mounts listed below for your exact chassis — no extra parts to source.

Front

  • Pillow ball + rubber top mountPillow ball + rubberP+Pillow-ball upper with a rubber insert — adds steering precision and camber adjustability while keeping some of the factory mount’s harshness damping.
  • Hardened rubber top mountHardened rubberRHardened rubber upper — firmer than the factory bush for tighter response while retaining road-friendly noise and vibration isolation.

Rear

  • Aluminium top mountAluminiumAAluminium upper mount — a stiff, lightweight housing that locates the damper precisely and resists flex under load.
