XYZ Racing Tarmac Rally Coilovers — BMW 4 SERIES F82 M4 (Modified Rear Integrated) 2014-2020

The F82 M4’s S55 twin-turbo straight six puts more load through the rear axle than any four-cylinder 4 Series ever will, and on a rough tarmac stage that load doesn’t arrive as a steady push – it comes in spikes, over crests, through compressions, off cambered apexes taken at speed. Standard M-spec damping is tuned for a smooth circuit or a B-road, not a stage surface that changes character every fifty metres.

The Tarmac Rally coilover is built for exactly that surface. It’s the spec XYZ Racing fits to cars running sealed-stage events, where the rear subframe and diff mounts are already under more stress than road use ever asks of them, and where a car that skips over a mid-corner bump loses the stage rather than just unsettling the driver for a moment.

What this coilover does for your 2014-2020 BMW 4 Series F82 M4

On a stage surface, the damper’s job is absorbing the hit from a broken or uneven section without the body kicking sideways – which is where a lot of tarmac-rally F82s lose time on rougher special stages. This kit is set up to take a big hit through the wheel and keep the contact patch loaded rather than letting the tyre skip, so traction stays available exactly when you’re back on the throttle out of a compression. That matters more on the F82 than on lighter 4 Series variants, because the S55’s torque will spin a rear tyre the instant load drops off it. The damping settings are drawn from XYZ Racing’s own tarmac-rally programme rather than a generic road-and-track compromise, so the car settles quicker after a bump instead of still moving when you’re already turning in for the next apex. Ride height and corner-weighting are also adjustable, which lets you correct the nose-heavy six-cylinder stance before you start tuning damping.

About the Tarmac Rally coilover

This is a damper built specifically for sealed-stage tarmac rally use, not a road coilover with a rally badge on it. Its primary job is soaking up the impact from broken or uneven stage surfaces without transmitting that hit straight into the chassis – across a big compression or a sharp edge, the damper absorbs the jolt rather than passing it on, which keeps the body from pitching and the tyre loaded against the road. That control is what keeps traction consistent through a stage rather than losing it the moment the surface gets rough. The result, on the car, is the kind of stability that lets a driver commit to a line rather than backing off for an unknown surface change. Every valving and spring-rate decision on this kit comes from XYZ Racing’s own tarmac-rally programme, not a desk exercise.
