XYZ Racing Street Advanced Coilovers — BMW 7 SERIES E38 6 CYL (NOT AIR STRUT) 1995-2002

The E38’s steel strut front end, fitted to the six-cylinder 728i and 730i that skip BMW’s self-levelling air suspension, was tuned in the 1990s for a car cruising at motorway speed, not one carrying a driver, fuel and two decades of bushings that have since gone soft. On a chassis this long and this heavy, factory damping that has aged out shows up as float over compressions and a nose that dives hard under braking.

XYZ Racing’s Street Advanced coilover kit for the BMW 7 Series E38 replaces that ageing strut-and-spring setup with a fully adjustable, height-adjustable platform built for exactly this kind of car: a big, comfortable saloon that some owners drive daily and others are quietly sharpening into something more focused. It’s suited to enthusiast street use with the adjustability to firm things up for the odd track day without turning the E38 into something unliveable on a Monday commute.

What this coilover kit does for your 1995-2002 BMW 7 Series E38

Installed on the 6-cylinder, non-air-strut E38, this kit lets you drop ride height and firm up damping to control body roll on a car that was never light to begin with. The 720-position damping adjustment means you can run the E38 close to factory-soft for daily comfort, then wind in support before a longer, faster drive without swapping parts. Lowering the centre of gravity also sharpens turn-in on a chassis whose long wheelbase otherwise resists quick direction changes, and stiffer, better-controlled compression damping cuts the nose-dive under braking that comes from tired factory struts. For an E38 running eighteens or bigger, the adjustable platform height also closes up the arch gap that the factory ride height leaves on these cars.

About the Street Advanced coilover

Street Advanced is XYZ Racing’s highest-volume coilover line, developed over several years and refined through use in racing programmes worldwide before being brought to road-going form. The core spec is 720 damping positions, giving a far finer range of adjustment than a basic two- or four-way damper, so the compression and rebound balance can be set close to stock for comfort or tightened up for a track day without the car becoming unmanageable in between. It’s built as an all-round kit rather than a single-purpose track piece: road-legal ride quality is the baseline, with enough adjustment range on tap that owners who want to use their car occasionally on circuit or at a sprint don’t need a second set of suspension. For drivers moving up from tired original-equipment struts, it’s the difference between a car that wallows and one that holds a line.

Fitment for the Bmw 7 SERIES E38 6 CYL (NOT AIR STRUT) (1995-2002)

This kit is built for the BMW 7 Series E38, chassis code BM21-1, across the six-cylinder range built between 1995 and 2002. It’s specific to the conventional steel strut cars, not the self-levelling air suspension fitted to other E38 variants, so confirm your car uses standard front and rear struts before ordering.
