XYZ Racing Racing Spec Coilovers — BMW I8 4WD (Cancellation Kit for Electronic Damping) 2014-2020

The i8’s electronically controlled dampers were calibrated around a grand-touring brief, so the first job on any track-focused example is getting past them – which is why this XYZ Racing Racing Spec coilover for the BMW i8 ships with the cancellation kit for the factory electronic damping. Fit it and the adaptive-suspension electronics stay quiet while a proper motorsport damper takes over the work.

This is the firm end of the range, aimed at serious track and time-attack use rather than fast-road comfort. With a carbon-tub chassis and a low centre of gravity from the central battery pack, the 2014-2020 i8 has the bones for circuit work; what it lacks from the factory is the body control and the adjustability to exploit them.

What this coilover kit does for your 2014-2020 BMW i8

Ride height drops and becomes adjustable, so you can lose the i8’s tall GT stance and reset the geometry for camber and roll-centre work. The racing-derived valving manages the through-the-road four-wheel-drive layout under power, keeping the electrically driven front axle settled as it picks up drive out of slow corners. The roll and dive that the standard adaptive setup permits for comfort are reined in, giving you a flatter platform to load the tyres harder mid-corner. On track you feel it as sharper turn-in, steadier braking and a car that finally holds its line under the sustained cornering loads the i8 was never sold to chase.

About the Racing Spec coilover

The Racing Spec sits at the top of XYZ Racing’s competition ladder and is built specifically for circuit racing rather than road use. Its damper settings were not arrived at on a dyno alone; they come from direct participation in motorsport, including World Touring Car Championship (WTCC) competition, where the valving was developed against real race data. For cars carrying aggressive modifications, XYZ Racing also builds bespoke shock absorbers to order, the same way it supplies factory racing vehicles and A-class racing machinery. The process is collaborative: you supply the detail on every upgraded part fitted and the circuit you intend to run, and XYZ Racing valves a custom damper around that specification. For a heavily developed i8, that bespoke route is worth knowing about before you commit.

Fitment for the BMW i8 (2014-2020)

This kit is mapped to the BMW i8 (chassis code BM102-C) across the full 2014-2020 production run. It is the four-wheel-drive specification and includes the cancellation kit required to run coilovers in place of the car’s factory electronic damping. Confirm your build below before ordering.
