XYZ Racing Top Sport Coilovers — Ferrari 488 GTB (without hydraulic lift system) 2016-2026

The 488 GTB without the front-axle lift is the purist’s spec – lower, lighter at the nose by a few kilos, and free of the hydraulic packaging that the lift system imposes on the front damper towers. That last point matters here. With the lift hardware out of the equation, the front strut geometry on the FE03-1 platform is fully open to a proper coilover replacement, and the Top Sport setting is built around exactly that scenario.

Ferrari’s own magnetorheological damping is brilliant on a smooth circuit and increasingly compromised on a B-road. The Top Sport coilover swaps the variable-fluid logic for a mechanically adjustable monotube with 30 to 50 percent more damping force and roughly 2 kg/mm more spring rate than the factory street tune. The result on a 488 GTB is sharper turn-in, less front-end float over crested apexes, and a rear axle that stops squatting through traction-mode launches.

What this coilover does for your 2016-2026 Ferrari 488 GTB (without hydraulic lift system)

The 488 carries a turbocharged 3.9-litre V8 mounted behind the cabin, and the weight transfer that engine generates under hard braking and corner exit is what the Top Sport setup is calibrated to manage. Stiffer spring rates keep the rear from sinking onto its bump stops when the twin-scroll turbos come fully on song out of a slow corner. The 30 to 50 percent damping increase tightens body control through long, loaded compressions – Eau Rouge geometry on a UK trackday circuit, fast direction changes at Snetterton, or simply a poorly surfaced A-road taken in anger. Ride height is adjustable across the range, so the 488’s nose-down stance can be set to taste without sacrificing the geometry the chassis was designed around. Tyre contact patch becomes more predictable on broken surfaces – the front no longer skips wide mid-corner when a ridge appears under load.

About the Top Sport coilover

Top Sport is XYZ Racing’s dual-purpose tune – the setting they reach for when the brief is a car that will see real circuit use but still get driven home afterwards. Spring rates run roughly 2 kg/mm above their street coilover line, and damping force is wound up by 30 to 50 percent over the same baseline. The construction is monotube, which gives the larger oil volume and more consistent fade resistance you need across a 20-minute session. Every setting in the Top Sport range is drawn from XYZ Racing’s own track development programme rather than being interpolated from a generic catalogue tune. The intent is impact absorption over kerbs and broken pavement without the wallowing that a softer street coilover allows, paired with the body control needed for sustained aggressive driving. The platform is suited to occasional track days backed up by regular road use, not to a dedicated race-only build.

Fitment for the Ferrari 488 GTB (Years 2016-2026)

This kit is specified for the 488 GTB chassis code FE03-1, covering the 2016 through 2026 production span, in the variant supplied without the hydraulic front-axle lift system. The lift-equipped 488 takes a different front coilover specification and is not covered by this listing.

Configure your Top Sport spec for the 488 GTB below – ride height, spring rate options and damping preferences are all set from the configurator.

By increasing 30~50% damping or 2kg/mm spring rate than street setting; it can absorb the impact of uneven pavement. It is able to absorb the jolt when across a big bumps, effectively suppress shock body and to increase tire’s traction. Vehicle stability makes you can experience perfect handling. All the settings from our Top Sport racing experience. It is suitable for track day and aggressive driving.
