XYZ Racing Tarmac Rally Coilovers — Fiat COUPE 1993-2000

The Fiat Coupe is a front-driven 2+2 with a Pininfarina-influenced shell that hides a chassis happiest when its weight is settled and its front tyres are loaded. On a sealed rally stage that means surface changes every few seconds, kerbs you cannot avoid, and a nose that wants to push wide the instant the front dampers run out of travel. The Tarmac Rally coilover is built for exactly that environment.

This is the spec to fit when a Coupe 16v Turbo or 20v Turbo is being used in earnest on closed-road events rather than commuted on a Saturday. It keeps the front axle planted through compressions, suppresses the secondary bounce that softer fast-road kits develop over repeated bump-strikes, and lets the driver carry corner speed without the chassis going light mid-stage.

What this coilover does for your 1993-2000 Fiat Coupe

The Coupe’s long bonnet and front-biased mass concentrate work in the front dampers, and a stage surface punishes any kit that cannot recover between hits. The Tarmac Rally damping suppresses body shock so the front tyres stay in contact through compressions and crests instead of skipping over them. Traction on corner exit improves because the rear stops unloading on throttle, and turn-in becomes a measured action rather than a hopeful one. Brake stability is the other gain you feel immediately – the nose squats less under heavy stage braking, so trail-braking into a tight hairpin stays predictable. For owners running the 20v Turbo’s 220bhp, that recovered front-end discipline is the difference between a clean apex and a quarter-second understeer correction.

About the Tarmac Rally coilover

The Tarmac Rally damper is engineered around one priority: absorbing the impact of uneven sealed-stage pavement without losing body control. It is built to swallow large bump-strikes, suppress the resulting shock through the chassis, and recover travel before the next input – the mechanism that keeps tyre traction high across broken tarmac. The internal valving and spring choices carry over from XYZ Racing’s own tarmac rally programme, so the settings are not theoretical; they are what the team has arrived at after live stage development. The result is a coilover that holds vehicle stability under conditions that normally unsettle a road-derived kit, allowing the driver to commit to surfaces a softer setup would force them to back off from.
