XYZ Racing Racing Spec Coilovers — Honda ACCORD CD3/4/5/6 1993-1997

The fifth-generation Accord saloon was never designed with circuit work in mind – a comfort-biased family car with soft springs, generous body roll, and a front MacPherson layout that loads the outside shoulder long before the chassis settles. The Racing Spec coilover treats the CD3/4/5/6 as the donor it has become: a cheap, light, F-series-friendly platform that UK club racers and time-attack builders keep dragging back from the scrapyard.

This is the hardcore end of the XYZ Racing range. Damping logic and spring rates are derived from WTCC-level development work, not adapted from a road kit, and the result is a setup that expects slicks, alignment time, and a driver who knows what they want from the front axle.

What this Racing Spec coilover does for your 1993-1997 Honda Accord CD3/4/5/6

The CD chassis has two problems on track: it pitches under braking and it rolls progressively through long corners as the soft factory bushings load up. Racing Spec damping addresses both by holding the body flat enough that the front geometry stays in its working window through the apex, which on this car means the outside front tyre actually gets to do its job instead of rolling onto its sidewall. Ride height comes down enough to drop the roll centre without wrecking the lower control arm angles. Spring rates are deliberately high – this is not a coilover that pretends to be civil on the school run, and you will feel every cat’s eye on the M6, but in exchange the car stops loading up mid-corner and starts rotating on the throttle the way a 2,800lb saloon should.

About the Racing Spec coilover

Racing Spec is the development end of the XYZ Racing catalogue, built specifically for track race use and tuned from data collected in live racing – WTCC running being the headline example. The brief is different from the road-and-track kits: every setting has been selected for circuit behaviour first, with no comfort compromise dialled back into the curve. Construction follows the XYZ monotube format with adjustable damping and adjustable ride height, and the kit is sold as a track tool rather than a fast-road upgrade. XYZ also runs a custom-build programme for cars with aggressive mechanical changes – factory racing builds, A-class race cars, heavily modified privateer entries – where the customer supplies the parts list and target circuit and XYZ specifies a one-off damper for that combination. For a CD-chassis Accord running a built H22 swap, semi-slicks, and serious aero, that route is worth a conversation before you order off the shelf.

Fitment for the Honda Accord CD3/4/5/6 (1993-1997)

This kit is built specifically for the CD3, CD4, CD5 and CD6 Accord chassis variants produced between 1993 and 1997, covering the fifth-generation UK saloon and the related export bodies. Chassis code HN03 in the XYZ catalogue. Confirm your chassis prefix on the VIN plate before ordering, particularly on imported cars.
