XYZ Racing Gravel Rally Coilovers — Hyundai COUPE 2002-2009

The GK-platform Hyundai Coupe was never meant to see a forest stage, but the front-drive 2.0 and 2.7 V6 cars have quietly become a cheap entry into UK clubman rally – and the standard struts give up the moment the surface turns loose. The XYZ Racing Gravel Rally coilover for the 2002-2009 Hyundai Coupe is built for that environment specifically: gravel, snow, silt, and the high-speed compressions that follow a crested jump.

This is not a fast-road kit with a lift kit bolted on. It is an inverted-tube, long-stroke damper with spring lengths sized for the travel a stage car actually uses, and rates signed off by XYZ’s own rally team.

What this coilover does for your 2002-2009 Hyundai Coupe

The Coupe’s MacPherson front and rear multi-link were tuned for tarmac comfort, which leaves the chassis bottoming on rebound and packing down over consecutive hits. Switching to the Gravel Rally coilover gives you the stroke length to keep the wheel on the ground over washboard and the spring length to soak a landing without coil-bind. You get genuine damping authority under high G-force cornering, where the standard car simply runs out of travel and starts skipping wide. On the road sections between stages the longer spring also keeps the ride composed rather than crashy, which matters when you are sat in the car for a full day of recce and transit.

About the Gravel Rally coilover

The Gravel Rally is XYZ’s loose-surface specialist, developed specifically for rally and rallycross rather than adapted from a circuit damper. The headline construction choice is an inverted-tube design, which moves the larger-diameter outer tube to the top of the strut where it resists the side-loads that destroy conventional dampers on rough surfaces. Long stroke and long spring lengths are central to the brief: they let the chassis absorb high-frequency vibration from sandstone, snow, or silt, and bear the G-force loading that comes through the suspension when the car is pitched into a fast bend on a rutted surface. Spring rates are not catalogue guesses – XYZ states every setting in the Gravel Rally range has been tested by its own rally racing team before release.

This damper is mainly design for Rally Racing or Rally Cross. In all racing events, road condition of Rally Cross is the most aggressive one. Hence, it means that the shock absorber is the most important utensil during the Rally gravel competition. We develop inverted tube design to meet each different road condition as sandstone, snow or silt. Long stroke and long spring which enable to absorb chassis vibration, aggressively attack from high speed bouncy road and bear extremely G-force when turning. All spring rate setting are tested by Rally Racing team.
