XYZ Racing Gravel Rally Coilovers — Hyundai ELANTRA 2000-2006

The third-generation Hyundai Elantra (XD) was never designed to attack a forest stage at full chat, but its compact MacPherson-strut front and torsion-beam rear make it a surprisingly willing rally base once the suspension is rebuilt around the job. What it cannot do on its factory dampers is survive a single gravel stage without bottoming through compression and skipping the rear wide on lift. The XYZ Racing Gravel Rally coilover for the Hyundai Elantra 2000-2006 is built for exactly that brief.

This is the inverted-tube damper from XYZ Racing’s rally programme, with the long stroke and long spring that the format demands. It is not a fast-road kit with extra travel bolted on – it is a different shock absorber for a different surface.

What this coilover does for your 2000-2006 Hyundai Elantra

On gravel the Elantra’s biggest weakness is wheel control: short factory travel runs out of compression on the first compression-rut hit, and the dampers fade once they get hot. The Gravel Rally kit replaces both. The inverted-tube body keeps the working surfaces clean of stone-strike damage and stiffens the strut against side-load when the front tucks into a loose-surface apex. The long stroke means the wheel can actually follow the road on a fast bumpy section instead of pattering and washing wide. Spring rates are set for surface compliance rather than roll control, so the car loads the outside tyre progressively rather than pitching onto the bump-stops. The result is a chassis that stays planted at speed over the kind of broken ground that pushes a standard Elantra into understeer.

About the Gravel Rally coilover

The Gravel Rally is XYZ Racing’s purpose-specific rally damper, and the only kit in the range with the inverted-tube construction. Rally cross and gravel stages are, in XYZ’s own assessment, the most aggressive surfaces in motorsport – sandstone, snow and silt all loading the shock differently within the same stage. The inverted-tube layout was developed to handle that variation, with the larger-diameter outer tube acting as the structural element and the damper rod inverted to resist bending under hard side-load. Long stroke absorbs chassis vibration; the long spring works with that stroke to soak up high-speed bouncy sections and to carry the G-force when the car is turning at speed. Every spring rate in the kit is set by, and tested with, the XYZ Racing rally team rather than dyno-bench guesswork.

Fitment for the Hyundai Elantra (2000-2006)

This kit fits the XD-generation Hyundai Elantra built between 2000 and 2006. It is configured for the standard factory strut and damper mounting, with the inverted-tube layout sized to the Elantra’s front strut housing.

This damper is mainly design for Rally Racing or Rally Cross. In all racing events, road condition of Rally Cross is the most aggressive one. Hence, it means that the shock absorber is the most important utensil during the Rally gravel competition. We develop inverted tube design to meet each different road condition as sandstone, snow or silt. Long stroke and long spring which enable to absorb chassis vibration, aggressively attack from high speed bouncy road and bear extremely G-force when turning. All spring rate setting are tested by Rally Racing team.

Top mounts included with your kit

Every XYZ Racing coilover kit ships with the upper mounts listed below for your exact chassis — no extra parts to source.
