XYZ Racing Drift Spec Coilovers — Mazda MX-5 MIATA / ROADSTER 2005-2015

The NC-generation MX-5 sits in an awkward spot for drift-curious owners: heavier than the NA/NB it replaced, softer in standard damping than the ND that followed, and running a 2.0-litre MZR up front that wants to be revved rather than lugged sideways. The XYZ Racing Drift Spec coilover for the 2005-2015 Mazda MX-5 Miata / Roadster is built specifically for that platform’s transition from grippy road car to controllable rear-end on a skid pan or Goodwood paddock entry.

Compared to the Circuit Master or Super Sport options for the same chassis, the Drift Spec runs firmer rear rates and a wider angle window in the front knuckles, so the NC’s relatively long-travel rear suspension can actually be loaded up and held mid-slide instead of snapping back to centre.

What this coilover does for your 2005-2015 Mazda MX-5 Miata / Roadster

Drop the NC onto the Drift Spec and the first thing you feel is the rear axle settling. The factory rear multi-link is good but woolly under throttle – this kit firms up the squat and lets you feed power into a slide without the back stepping further than you asked. Up front, increased lock and a stiffer damper curve mean you can hold a steering angle without the front washing wide.

The 30-way damping adjustment is the part you will actually use week to week. Soften it for the drive to the airfield, wind it up before your first run, back it off a few clicks if the surface gets greasy. Camber tops and pillowball mounts give you the alignment range the NC chassis needs once you start pushing the front end past stock geometry limits.

About the Drift Spec coilover

The Drift Spec is XYZ Racing’s dedicated drift-focused kit, separate from the road-and-track Super Sport line and the circuit-leaning Circuit Master. Construction is a monotube body with a 30-step damping adjuster, separate ride-height adjustment that does not shorten available stroke, and pillowball top mounts front and rear for sharper steering response.

Spring rates are biased rearwards relative to the Super Sport for the same chassis, which is what gives the kit its weight-transfer feel under throttle. The front knuckles on applicable cars are modified to extend steering angle – on the NC the gains are useful rather than extreme, because the standard rack and steering geometry limit how far the factory hardware will let you go.

Damper bodies are rebuildable. The fluid and seals are serviceable items, not consumables, which matters on a car that will see kerb strikes and lock-stop abuse.

Fitment for the Mazda MX-5 MIATA / ROADSTER (2005-2015)

This kit is built for the NC-generation MX-5 Miata / Roadster, chassis code MA25, model years 2005 through 2015. It covers both the soft-top and the PRHT (power retractable hard top) bodies across the NC1, NC2, and NC3 facelifts. Standard mounting points are used front and rear.

This suspension is designed for Drift race especially. With its special design, it helps the racers stabilize the vehicle body while in high speed turning in order to make a perfect angle. It can also enhance drifting performance. After lowing the ride height with proper bump stroke, you will realize how we made the drift controlling to the excellent condition.
