XYZ Racing Circuit Master Coilovers — Porsche 964 CARRERA-2 1989-1990

The 964’s rear-engine weight distribution is the defining variable in every suspension decision for this car. With roughly 60 per cent of the mass sitting over the rear axle, the Carrera-2’s handling at the limit is a dialogue between driver and rear tyres – one that the stock suspension, calibrated for broad road compliance, can only partially facilitate.

The XYZ Racing Circuit Master coilover is built around sustained circuit lap-time work: repeated sessions where damper oil temperature climbs and consistency is what separates a fast lap from a safe exit. For the 964 Carrera-2, that means addressing front-end compliance under braking and the rear damping behaviour that governs whether the car rotates cleanly or telegraphs warnings before it doesn’t.

What this coilover does for your 1989-1990 Porsche 964 CARRERA-2

The rear-heavy 964 rewards spring rate increases differently from front-engined cars – firmer rear rates help resist the lift-throttle pendulum effect that characterises the platform at the limit. Three independent adjustment knobs give precise, separate control over damping behaviour, meaning the rear’s natural tendency to rotate can be managed without sacrificing the front-end compliance needed for trail-braking into slow corners. Height adjustment lets you lower the centre of gravity – meaningful on a car where mass in the wrong place will catch you out – while retaining enough travel for circuit kerbs. The 964 Carrera-2 responds strongly to corner-specific tuning; with 9,720 individual adjustment combinations available across three knobs, you can differentiate your setup between a fast, flowing circuit and a stop-go technical layout.

About the Circuit Master coilover

XYZ Racing developed the Circuit Master specifically for track use – not as a road-circuit compromise but as a kit validated against repeated lap sessions across multiple motorsport disciplines. The design uses three adjustment knobs operating a small oil-hole architecture: under normal circuit conditions the damper works conventionally, but when a large bump is encountered, oil passes through the restricted orifice and can produce a brief noise. This is not a fault; it is an intrinsic behaviour of the high-control damping philosophy. That three-knob configuration generates 9,720 distinct damping combinations – a range broad enough to serve Racing Spec, Drift Spec, and Tarmac Rally applications on the same underlying hardware. XYZ’s own racing teams have run the Circuit Master in competition on circuits worldwide, and the calibration reflects that operating experience rather than theoretical bench targets.

Fitment for the Porsche 964 CARRERA-2 (1989-1990)

This kit is supplied for the Porsche 964 Carrera-2 (chassis code PO09), covering the 1989 and 1990 model years – the opening production years of the 964 generation, which introduced coil-spring suspension to the 911 lineage. Confirm your car is the rear-wheel-drive Carrera-2 variant; the Carrera-4 all-wheel-drive model uses different front-suspension geometry and requires a separate fitment.

This is the best design, on the competitive version such as Racing Spec, Drift Spec, Tarmac Rally. This is the ultimate boutique for racing in many international athletics tracks, and test for a long time. This is for purchase handling high performance and the essential partner in different racing. Circuit Master Damper is tested through XYZ racing teams all over the world. 9720 ways of different adjustments can meet all customers’ needs and win the 1st place in every race.

Because its 3 adjustment knobs with small oil hole design, when driving through big bumps, the coilover oil will go through small passage which might cause some small noise. This is normal situation. This product is made for circuit tracks and there will be no concern for bumps on the tracks.

Top mounts included with your kit

Every XYZ Racing coilover kit ships with the upper mounts listed below for your exact chassis — no extra parts to source.

  • Pillow ball top mountPillow ballPSolid pillow-ball (spherical bearing) upper — chosen for rigidity and precise camber adjustment, the sharpest steering response of the options.
  • Aluminium top mountAluminiumAAluminium upper mount — a stiff, lightweight housing that locates the damper precisely and resists flex under load.
