XYZ Racing Pro Racing Drift Spec Coilovers — Subaru IMPREZA GC/GF 2WD/4WD 1992-2000

The GC/GF Impreza was born from rally, but its standard suspension geometry was never calibrated for sustained rear-slip angles on asphalt. At competition angles, the body rolls against the driver’s inputs rather than with them – a problem that becomes obvious the moment you try to carry consistent angle through a long, sweeping hairpin on a dedicated drift circuit.

This XYZ Racing Pro Racing Drift Spec kit was designed specifically to address that. Covering the complete first-generation Impreza platform from 1992 to 2000 – GC saloon and GF estate, in both 2WD and 4WD configurations – it reorients the car’s body control around the demands of competitive drifting rather than the stage rally origins the chassis came from.

What this coilover does for your 1992-2000 Subaru IMPREZA GC/GF

Ride height reduction through the adjustable perches shortens the effective bump stroke in a way that materially changes how the GC’s body responds to weight transfer at speed. Where the standard suspension allows excessive roll into committed slide entries, the Pro Racing Drift Spec keeps the body flatter, so angle is held rather than fought. The three-knob adjustment lets drivers tune compression and rebound independently between sessions without removing the unit from the car – a practical advantage when setup changes are needed between practice runs and competition rounds. For the 4WD cars specifically, adjusting front and rear damping separately helps manage the understeer-to-oversteer transition that Subaru’s symmetrical AWD layout creates at sustained competition angles.

About the Pro Racing Drift Spec coilover

XYZ designed this kit specifically for drift competition rather than fast-road or track-day use – the tuning philosophy is built around circuit asphalt, not public roads with their expansion joints and surface irregularities. Three adjustment knobs give independent control of damper characteristics, and the internal construction uses a small oil-passage design to regulate fluid flow under large bump inputs. This produces some low-level audible feedback from the damper body under serious use – that is inherent to the design and represents normal operation on a competition circuit surface. Ride height is adjustable through the threaded perch system, and the GC/GF calibration lowers the car while preserving sufficient bump travel for circuit undulations. This is a product for competitors who are clear about the trade-offs they are accepting.

Fitment for the Subaru IMPREZA GC/GF (1992-2000)

This kit covers the Subaru Impreza across both GC saloon and GF estate body styles in 2WD and 4WD drivetrain configurations, spanning the full 1992 to 2000 model run under chassis code SU04. Confirm your drivetrain variant before ordering, as the front and rear suspension architecture differs between 2WD and 4WD installations.

This suspension is especially designed for Drift racing purpose. With its special design, it helps the racers stabilize the vehicle body while in high speed turning in order to make a perfect angle. It can also enhance drifting performance. After lowering the ride height with proper bump stroke, you will realize how we made the drift controlling to the excellent condition.

Because its 3 adjustment knobs with small oil hole design, when driving through big bumps, the coilover oil will go through small passage which might cause some small noise. This is normal situation. This product is made for circuit tracks and there will be no concern for bumps on the tracks.
