XYZ Racing Gravel Rally Coilovers — Toyota PASEO (CYNOS) L4 1991-1995

The Paseo – sold as the Cynos in its home market – was never drawn up with loose surfaces in mind. Its featherweight Tercel-derived floorpan, narrow track and softly sprung road setup were built for economy motoring, not for pinning the throttle across a rutted gravel stage. The XYZ Racing Gravel Rally coilover takes that light front-wheel-drive shell and gives it the wheel travel, damping control and structural durability a stage car genuinely needs.

Of the XYZ Racing coilover range, the Gravel Rally series is the one developed specifically for loose-surface competition rather than fast road or circuit work. For a 1991-1995 Toyota Paseo being prepared for gravel rally or rallycross, this is the spec that actually matches the discipline.

What this coilover kit does for your 1991-1995 Toyota Paseo

The long-stroke design gives the front-heavy Paseo the suspension travel to keep its tyres loaded over crests, compressions and mid-corner ruts instead of skipping off line. Long springs soak up the constant chassis vibration of a fast, bouncy gravel surface, so the car settles between hits rather than pattering across them. The inverted strut construction adds bending stiffness at the front axle, where a light nose and modest grip make precise steering response hard to come by. Damping is set to withstand the lateral G-force loaded through the chassis when you commit to a loose-surface corner, which keeps the inside wheel working and protects what traction the 5E-FE’s narrow torque band can deliver.

About the Gravel Rally coilover

This damper is built mainly for rally and rallycross use, where the surface is the most punishing in motorsport and the shock absorber becomes the single most important component on the car. XYZ Racing uses an inverted tube layout so the unit copes with the full range of stage conditions – sandstone, snow and silt – without losing control. The long stroke and long spring are there to absorb chassis vibration, to let the car attack high-speed broken roads, and to carry the extreme cornering loads a gravel stage throws at the suspension. Construction prioritises strength and consistent valving over the firmer, lower-travel philosophy of a circuit kit. Crucially, every spring rate in the package has been settled and validated by XYZ Racing’s own rally team rather than guessed at on paper.

Fitment for the Toyota Paseo (Cynos) (1991-1995)

This kit is built for the Toyota Paseo (Cynos) L4, chassis code CYNOS, covering the 1991 to 1995 model run. It is a direct fit for that chassis and is configured for the front-wheel-drive layout of this generation.

This damper is mainly design for Rally Racing or Rally Cross. In all racing events, road condition of Rally Cross is the most aggressive one. Hence, it means that the shock absorber is the most important utensil during the Rally gravel competition. We develop inverted tube design to meet each different road condition as sandstone, snow or silt. Long stroke and long spring which enable to absorb chassis vibration, aggressively attack from high speed bouncy road and bear extremely G-force when turning. All spring rate setting are tested by Rally Racing team.

Every XYZ Racing coilover kit ships with the upper mounts listed below for your exact chassis — no extra parts to source.

  • Pillow ball + rubber top mountPillow ball + rubberP+Pillow-ball upper with a rubber insert — adds steering precision and camber adjustability while keeping some of the factory mount’s harshness damping.
  • Hardened rubber top mountHardened rubberRHardened rubber upper — firmer than the factory bush for tighter response while retaining road-friendly noise and vibration isolation.
  • Aluminium top mountAluminiumAAluminium upper mount — a stiff, lightweight housing that locates the damper precisely and resists flex under load.
