XYZ Racing Pro Racing Gravel/Snow Coilovers — Volkswagen GOLF MK6 GTI φ55 (Modified Rear Integrated) 2008-2012

The Golf GTI Mk6 puts all of its power through the front axle, so the moment the surface underneath goes loose, wet, or broken, traction depends entirely on the front tyres staying in contact with whatever’s left of the road. Standard-length dampers run out of travel fast when the surface drops away beneath them, and that’s exactly the gap this kit is built to close.

The XYZ Racing Pro Racing Gravel/Snow coilover for the Volkswagen GOLF MK6 GTI is set up for rally and rallycross-style events and loose-surface circuit work, where the car needs to absorb sustained impacts rather than just soak up the odd kerb strike. Longer front and rear travel keeps the wheels working through compressions that would otherwise send a shorter-travel setup into the bump stops.

What this coilover brings to your 2008-2012 Volkswagen GOLF MK6 GTI

Fit this kit to the Mk6 GTI and the biggest change you’ll feel is composure over surfaces the standard suspension simply can’t cope with – washboard gravel, rutted stages, or a wet, cambered B-road where the factory dampers would already be at the end of their stroke. The extended travel front and rear gives the front axle more room to react before it runs out of suspension, which matters on a front-driven chassis that relies on that axle for both steering and drive. XYZ Racing has increased the volume of both shock oil and nitrogen gas inside each damper, which keeps oil temperature under control during long, repeated hits rather than a single hot lap – useful for stage-length events rather than a single sprint. The 3-way adjustment lets you retune the damper as conditions change through a rally or a full track day, from a dry stage in the morning to a wet one in the afternoon.

About the Pro Racing Gravel/Snow coilover

This damper is built specifically for rally and rallycross use rather than tarmac-only track days, with front and rear travel extended beyond XYZ Racing’s road and circuit ranges to give the suspension a bigger buffer before it bottoms out on rough ground. The larger internal reservoir of suspension oil and nitrogen gas is the key construction detail – it reduces the risk of the oil overheating and losing its damping characteristics during extended, hard use, which is exactly when a standard damper starts to fade. Each unit carries 3 external adjustment knobs, and because the internal oil passages are deliberately kept small to support fine adjustment, you may hear a faint noise from the damper when it’s working hard over big compressions – that’s the oil moving through those passages as designed, not a fault. It’s built for circuit and stage conditions where bumps are the norm rather than the exception, so that noise is simply the damper doing its job under load.

Fitment for the Volkswagen GOLF MK6 GTI (2008-2012)

This kit is mapped to chassis code VO19-1-A, covering the Golf MK6 GTI built between 2008 and 2012, in the φ55 (modified rear integrated) configuration. Confirm your car matches this rear-integration spec before ordering, as it determines which rear mounting hardware is supplied with the kit.

This damper is mainly design for Rally Racing or Rally Cross. With longer travel for both front and rear, it increases bigger buffer distance to keep the car stable. The most advantages of this product is to extend the amount of suspension oil and nitrogen gas which can increase the stability of the shocks and prevent the shock oil temperature too high from being exhausted after long-term use.

Because its 3 adjustment knobs with small oil hole design, when driving through big bumps, the coilover oil will go through small passage which might cause some small noise. This is normal situation. This product is made for circuit tracks and there will be no concern for bumps on the tracks.
