XYZ Racing Tarmac Rally Coilovers — Volkswagen GOLF MK7 GTI φ55 (Cancellation Kit for Electronic Damping) 2013-2020

Stage rally on tarmac punishes a chassis differently to a circuit lap – broken surfaces, camber changes and compressions arrive with no warning and no run-off. The Mk7 GTI’s front strut layout already carries a lot of load through the nose under trail-braking into a hairpin, and on a rough special stage that load comes with repeated, unpredictable impacts rather than the smooth, repeatable inputs a track day gives you. This Tarmac Rally kit is built around that reality.

Because this car left the factory with electronic adaptive damping (DCC), the φ55-spec kit here includes the cancellation kit needed to remove the factory electronics from the equation entirely, so the coilover’s own valving is what controls the car – not a computer trying to reconcile aftermarket dampers with OEM software.

What this coilover does for your 2013-2020 Volkswagen GOLF

Fitted to a 2013-2020 GOLF GTI, this kit is tuned to absorb sharp, repeated impacts without kicking the chassis off line – the priority on a rally stage where the next crest or pothole is rarely visible in advance. The valving is set to soak up big hits before they translate into body shock, which keeps the tyre loaded and gripping instead of skipping across broken tarmac. That matters on a front-driven GTI, where any loss of front contact patch shows up immediately as understeer or a shove wide at the exit of a compression. The cancellation kit means the ride you get is the one XYZ Racing tuned, not a blended compromise with the DCC system’s own logic. Ride height is also adjustable, so ground clearance can be set to suit a given stage rather than left at road-going default.

About the Tarmac Rally coilover

XYZ Racing’s Tarmac Rally line is specifically valved for sealed-stage tarmac rally use, where the surface is smoother than gravel but far rougher and less consistent than a race circuit. The damper is built to absorb the impact of uneven pavement and soak up the jolt of larger bumps and compressions without transmitting that shock straight into the body – the aim being to keep the tyre’s contact patch working rather than letting it skip or unload. That control is what XYZ Racing describes as effectively suppressing shock to the body while increasing tyre traction, which in turn is what keeps the car settled and predictable through a sequence of corners rather than reactive to every surface change. The settings built into this line come directly from XYZ Racing’s own tarmac rally programme, rather than being adapted from a road or circuit product. Construction and adjustment range follow the same body architecture as the rest of the XYZ Racing coilover family, giving a stable platform to build stage settings around.

Fitment for the Volkswagen GOLF MK7 GTI (2013-2020)

This kit is specified for the Volkswagen GOLF Mk7 GTI, chassis code VO20-5-C, covering the 2013 to 2020 production run. It’s built to the φ55 strut specification and includes the cancellation kit required for cars fitted with electronic (DCC) damping, so the aftermarket damper runs independently of the factory system. Confirm your GTI carries the DCC option before ordering this variant rather than the standard φ55 kit.
