XYZ Racing Pro Racing Gravel/Snow Coilovers — Ford TELSTAR 1988-1992

The Ford Telstar FO19 was a front-wheel-drive saloon built on Mazda’s Capella underpinnings, and like almost every road car of its era it was sprung to ride a smooth A-road, not to attack a loose surface at speed. The Pro Racing Gravel/Snow coilover is the answer for the owners keeping these cars working on gravel stages and in the snow, where suspension travel and damper survival matter far more than how low the car sits.

What sets this kit apart from a tarmac setup is deliberately longer travel front and rear. That extended stroke gives the FO19’s suspension a bigger working range to absorb ruts, crests and mid-corner compressions without slamming into the bump stops – the point at which a loose-surface car skips offline and the front axle stops steering.

What this coilover kit does for your 1988-1992 Ford Telstar

On a broken or low-grip surface, the longer travel keeps the Telstar’s front tyres loaded and in contact when a stiffer circuit damper would have unsettled the car. The three external adjustment knobs let you set the damping to match the stage, softening for chopped gravel or firming up for harder-packed snow and ice. Because this kit carries a larger volume of shock oil and nitrogen gas than a standard damper, it resists the heat build-up that fades a shock late in a long run, so the car feels the same on the final corner as it did on the first. For a front-wheel-drive saloon that lives off the tarmac, that consistency is what holds your line and protects the hardware.

About the Pro Racing Gravel/Snow coilover

This is a rally and rallycross-focused damper rather than a low-slung circuit kit. The headline feature is the extended travel at both axles, which builds in a bigger buffer to keep the car stable when the surface drops away beneath it. To support that, XYZ Racing increased the internal oil capacity and nitrogen gas charge: more fluid and gas means the shock holds its temperature and damping characteristics through sustained punishment instead of cooking the oil and going off after long-term use. Damping is set through three adjustment knobs, each routing oil through a small-orifice passage. One practical note worth knowing up front – over large bumps you may hear a faint sound as the oil forces through those small passages. That is normal behaviour for this design, not a fault.

Fitment for the Ford Telstar (1988-1992)

This kit is built for the Ford Telstar FO19 chassis across the 1988 to 1992 model years. That generation is the front-wheel-drive, Mazda Capella-derived saloon, and the coilovers are matched to its strut and mounting layout. Confirm your chassis code reads FO19 and your build year falls inside the 1988-1992 window before configuring.

This damper is mainly design for Rally Racing or Rally Cross. With longer travel for both front and rear, it increases bigger buffer distance to keep the car stable. The most advantages of this product is to extend the amount of suspension oil and nitrogen gas which can increase the stability of the shocks and prevent the shock oil temperature too high from being exhausted after long-term use.

Because its 3 adjustment knobs with small oil hole design, when driving through big bumps, the coilover oil will go through small passage which might cause some small noise. This is normal situation. This product is made for circuit tracks and there will be no concern for bumps on the tracks.

  • Hardened rubber top mountHardened rubberRHardened rubber upper — firmer than the factory bush for tighter response while retaining road-friendly noise and vibration isolation.

Rear

  • Aluminium top mountAluminiumAAluminium upper mount — a stiff, lightweight housing that locates the damper precisely and resists flex under load.
