XYZ Racing Pro Racing Gravel/Snow Coilovers — Mitsubishi ECLIPSE 1989-1995

The first-generation Eclipse – the MT12 DSM that dropped a transverse 4G63 turbo and, in GSX form, full-time four-wheel drive into an affordable coupe – was never happiest pinned to smooth tarmac. Lift it onto gravel, snow or a broken rally stage and standard damping runs out of travel long before the chassis runs out of grip.

The XYZ Racing Pro Racing Gravel/Snow coilover for the Mitsubishi Eclipse 1989-1995 is built for exactly that environment. It trades the short, hard stroke of a circuit setup for long-travel front and rear units that keep all four corners loaded when the surface stops cooperating.

What this coilover does for your 1989-1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse

The extra suspension travel front and rear gives the car a larger buffer before it crashes into the bump stops, so the 1G Eclipse stays settled over crests, ruts and frozen ridges that would unstick a stiffer kit. A bigger volume of damper oil and nitrogen gas means the shocks resist heat build-up across a long stage, holding their rate where a track-spec damper would already have started to fade. Three-way adjustment lets you separate the soft compliance you want on loose surfaces from the body control you need under power – which matters in a nose-heavy turbo car that loads its front axle hard on corner exit. The net result is a Mitsubishi Eclipse you can drive at the limit on gravel or snow rather than merely survive.

About the Pro Racing Gravel/Snow coilover

The Pro Racing Gravel/Snow coilover is XYZ Racing’s loose-surface specification, developed for rally and rallycross rather than the circuit. Its defining trait is travel: both front and rear dampers are lengthened to open up a far bigger working range, which is what keeps the car stable when the ground drops away beneath it. To support that, the design carries a greater quantity of shock oil and nitrogen gas than a conventional kit, raising thermal capacity so the damping does not deteriorate once the oil would otherwise overheat under sustained use. Adjustment runs through three knobs, and the internal valving uses a small oil-hole passage; over large impacts the oil forced through that passage can produce a faint noise, which is a normal characteristic of the design rather than a fault. This is a coilover engineered to absorb repeated heavy hits without protest.

Fitment for the Mitsubishi Eclipse (1989-1995)

This kit is cut for the first-generation Mitsubishi Eclipse, chassis code MT12, covering the 1989 to 1995 model years. With these DSMs now firmly into modern-classic territory, a fresh set of adjustable dampers is often the difference between a car that stays competitive and one that gets parked. Confirm your exact variant against the configurator before ordering.

This damper is mainly design for Rally Racing or Rally Cross. With longer travel for both front and rear, it increases bigger buffer distance to keep the car stable. The most advantages of this product is to extend the amount of suspension oil and nitrogen gas which can increase the stability of the shocks and prevent the shock oil temperature too high from being exhausted after long-term use.

Because its 3 adjustment knobs with small oil hole design, when driving through big bumps, the coilover oil will go through small passage which might cause some small noise. This is normal situation. This product is made for circuit tracks and there will be no concern for bumps on the tracks.

Top mounts included with your kit

Every XYZ Racing coilover kit ships with the upper mounts listed below for your exact chassis — no extra parts to source.

Front

  • Hardened rubber top mountHardened rubberRHardened rubber upper — firmer than the factory bush for tighter response while retaining road-friendly noise and vibration isolation.

Rear

  • Aluminium top mountAluminiumAAluminium upper mount — a stiff, lightweight housing that locates the damper precisely and resists flex under load.
