XYZ Racing Pro Racing Gravel/Snow Coilovers — Mitsubishi EVO7-9 4WD 2002-2008

The Evo VII-IX’s full-time all-wheel-drive platform was built for exactly the kind of surface most road coilovers are never asked to deal with: broken gravel, snow-packed forest roads, washboard ruts that throw the car sideways under power. Mitsubishi’s WRC-era chassis has always had the traction to put big power down off-tarmac – the limiting factor is whether the suspension can keep the wheels in contact with the ground long enough to use it.

That’s the specific job of the Pro Racing Gravel/Snow coilover. It’s not a track-day spring-and-damper set with a stiffer rate bolted in; it’s built around longer travel, front and rear, so the Evo VII-IX can absorb bigger compressions and rebounds without the shock running out of stroke mid-stage.

What this coilover does for your 2002-2008 Mitsubishi Evo7-9 4WD

Extended suspension travel gives the MT19 chassis a bigger buffer before the damper tops or bottoms out over a rutted crest or a compression you didn’t see coming, which keeps the car stable instead of skipping sideways. A larger internal reservoir of suspension oil and nitrogen gas means the shock has more thermal mass to work with, so oil temperature stays under control through a long stage or a repeated rally-cross session rather than fading as the fluid heats up. The 3-way adjustment knobs let you tune compression and rebound separately for gravel, snow or mixed low-grip surfaces, so the Evo7-9’s power delivery through all four corners doesn’t outrun what the chassis can put down.

About the Pro Racing Gravel/Snow coilover

This is a damper built specifically for rally and rally-cross use rather than tarmac circuit work. The extended front and rear travel is the headline spec – it’s there to give the car a bigger margin before the suspension runs out of room on rough, unpredictable surfaces, which is exactly what keeps a car planted through a gravel stage instead of skating over the top of it. The bigger reserve of suspension oil and nitrogen gas is the second half of that story: more volume means the shock resists the oil-temperature spike that comes from sustained hard use, so damping stays consistent instead of going soft as the unit heats up. Each unit has 3 adjustment knobs feeding oil through small internal passages; on big hits you may hear a faint noise as oil moves through that passage – that’s normal operation on this design, not a fault, and it doesn’t affect how the shock performs.

Fitment for the Mitsubishi Evo7-9 4WD (2002-2008)

Built for the MT19 chassis code covering the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VII, VIII and IX, 2002 to 2008, across the full-time all-wheel-drive platform. Confirm your Evo7-9 4WD’s exact model year falls within this range before ordering.

This damper is mainly design for Rally Racing or Rally Cross. With longer travel for both front and rear, it increases bigger buffer distance to keep the car stable. The most advantages of this product is to extend the amount of suspension oil and nitrogen gas which can increase the stability of the shocks and prevent the shock oil temperature too high from being exhausted after long-term use.

Because its 3 adjustment knobs with small oil hole design, when driving through big bumps, the coilover oil will go through small passage which might cause some small noise. This is normal situation. This product is made for circuit tracks and there will be no concern for bumps on the tracks.

  • Hardened rubber top mountHardened rubberRHardened rubber upper — firmer than the factory bush for tighter response while retaining road-friendly noise and vibration isolation.

Rear

  • Aluminium top mountAluminiumAAluminium upper mount — a stiff, lightweight housing that locates the damper precisely and resists flex under load.
