XYZ Racing Racing Spec Coilovers — Mitsubishi ECLIPSE 2006-2012

The fourth-generation Eclipse arrived in 2006 carrying more weight than the turbocharged 4G63 cars that built the nameplate’s reputation – resolutely front-wheel drive, factory-calibrated for grand tourer comfort, and sitting on suspension that treats a braking zone as something to survive rather than use. That weight sits forward, over the driven axle, and the way it loads at turn-in and releases under throttle is the problem a track-focused suspension has to answer.

The Racing Spec coilover is built around that brief. Tuning has been developed through direct race event participation, including WTCC, which means the spring and damper relationship comes from conditions that were actually raced, not road-use approximations with harder springs fitted after the fact.

What this coilover does for your 2006-2012 Mitsubishi Eclipse

The nose-heavy FWD layout of the MT16 chassis is manageable – it becomes a tool – once the damping is calibrated for the loads a circuit actually generates. Lower the car and run the Racing Spec at track settings and weight transfer becomes something the driver can time rather than react to. Trail braking into medium and fast corners, where the factory suspension runs out of composure early, gains predictability: the front axle loads in a way you can feel and trust, and the understeer bias that defines the Eclipse’s standard behaviour starts to become adjustable rather than fixed. Repeated hard sessions expose how well the damper holds its calibration – this is where the WTCC-derived tuning matters.

About the Racing Spec coilover

The Racing Spec damper is built specifically for track and time-attack deployment, with all tuning developed through actual race event participation – including at WTCC level – rather than derived from simulated loads or road-use data. XYZ Racing treats the circuit as the primary calibration environment, and the damper behaviour reflects that. For Eclipse owners running significant mechanical changes – engine work, brake conversions, revised wheel and tyre packages that alter the weight balance and grip limits – a bespoke shock absorber specification is available. Supply detailed information about your upgraded parts and the circuit you intend to run, and the damper can be built to match your specific car rather than the standard MT16 fitment baseline. That option is particularly relevant for heavily modified cars where stock spring and damper rates no longer represent the correct starting point.

Fitment for the Mitsubishi Eclipse (2006-2012)

This kit is developed for the Mitsubishi Eclipse MT16 chassis – the fourth-generation coupe produced from 2006 through to the end of production in 2012. If the car has been modified in ways that affect suspension geometry, spring perch position, or corner weights, the custom build route is worth considering rather than ordering the standard fitment.

What buyers also search for

  • Mitsubishi Eclipse 2006-2012 suspension upgrade for track and time-attack
  • MT16 Eclipse coilover setup to manage front axle load under braking
  • Mitsubishi Eclipse Racing Spec damper with WTCC-calibrated settings
  • XYZ Racing coilover for modified Mitsubishi Eclipse with custom build option
  • Eclipse 4G coilover for competitive circuit use and reduced understeer

Configure your Racing Spec below – including any bespoke build request for heavily modified cars where a standard fitment baseline no longer applies.

Racing Spec damper is specially made for track race, and all settings have been obtained from direct participation in racing event such as WTCC. In some circumstances, particular custom-made shock absorbers are available for those cars that have aggressive upgrades like factory’s racing vehicles or A-class racing cars etc…You may provide us with detailed info on all upgraded parts in your car and what circuit you will run, and we are able to make custom shock absorbers for your personal car.

Top mounts included with your kit

Every XYZ Racing coilover kit ships with the upper mounts listed below for your exact chassis — no extra parts to source.

  • Pillow ball + rubber top mountPillow ball + rubberP+Pillow-ball upper with a rubber insert — adds steering precision and camber adjustability while keeping some of the factory mount’s harshness damping.
  • Hardened rubber top mountHardened rubberRHardened rubber upper — firmer than the factory bush for tighter response while retaining road-friendly noise and vibration isolation.
  • Aluminium top mountAluminiumAAluminium upper mount — a stiff, lightweight housing that locates the damper precisely and resists flex under load.
